CESC History: The First Chapter

In the summer of 2015, Olympic ice dancer Jim Millns and USFS judge Jackie Addis combined for the inspiration for Champions’ Edge Skating Club.

Millns and Addis, veterans of the skating world, watched over the construction of Center Ice. When

the time was right, they helped found the new club.

A Board of Directors came together as the founding members of CESC in the fall of 2016. The board

members represent many years of figure skating involvement, both locally and internationally.

This board is characterized by 200-plus years of club leadership and volunteer involvement in skating. Every officer brings unique skills, talents and energy to CESC.

CESC was granted its Provisional membership in November 2016. USFS Club No. 2954 was formed with 43 founding members. By June 1, 2017, 75 members were registered with the USFS. CESC received its permanent club status and in 2022 it had grown to 154 members.

In the first year of CESC, skaters have participated in two test sessions, a June 2017 exhibition-fundraiser/picnic and the September 2017 inaugural general meeting/competitors send-off exhibitions/skater recognition.

We are very lucky to have AdventHealth Center Ice as our home rink.  The facility has 4 ice surfaces under roof and provides an excellent staff for our skaters, including Olympians and national competitors.
